Rules and Regulations
X-Men, the Secret Society, is played in the Federation Simming Fleet's Message Board Forum (http://forums.sb254.com/index.php?f=600) and is a free form writing game in which a collective group of players role play a character or characters and interact socially with other player's characters. In this forum, to adhere logic and chaos control, X-Men has a few rule subsets that need to be followed in order to maintain a well balanced game so everyone can enjoy.
1. Players within the X-Men simulation can have and play up to five characters in game. Due to the dynamic nature of message board simulation, posts are not limitied and as such, players can easily post for five characters. If one would like to play an established Featured Character (FC) for example, Wolverine, Storm, Beast, etc, rather than an Original Character (OC) then a request needs to be made as such to the Moderator of the simulation before FC characters can be placed in the Cerebro Database as well as within the roster of the Institute
2. If you have a problem with another player, keep it off the message boards, strive to find a resolutions between yourself and this other player, if needed, you may get the Moderator involved in which case, Federation Simming Fleet rules and regulations for such acts will be adhered to within their fullest regard. The objective of the game is to have fun, so play nice with your fellow simmer.
3. Posting action and character dialogues for another player's character(s) is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN without express consent from that player. This includes combat and effecting mutant abilities such as mind control and telekinetics. Be suggestive in your actions because assuming players are competent enough to write their character(s) damage and mind set during interaction of this degree with another player in a given situation.
4. Posting consistency is a must and its an attribute that is, in good practice, to continue. Stick to your character(s) demeanor, if he or she is afraid of something, try not to write that suddenly that phobia is banished in a non-controlling situation. Each and every character in the game have special abilities, but also, weaknesses, so, stick to them and strive not to jump away from them.
5. Posting quotas are regarded that each player within the simulation post to the boards in-game at least three times in a given week, you can post more than that and are welcomed to do so, many will in regard to the multiple characters they hold in-game. But for player each, three posts in-game. This is a way for the Moderator to track absences and act on them. If you feel that you are not going to make your quota, feel free to get in contact with the Moderator for a compromise is always a possibility.
6. Character death is a reality in this game and will happen but not without permission from the creator of that character or characters. The Moderator can kill a player's character in this situation, also a player can kill their own characters off in their own regard. Other players CANNOT KILL other players characters.
7. Location Tags are pretty much necessary for the chaos to be controlled. As the story and its locations expand, characters are going to be placed in seperate locations that span miles if not light-years. Location Tags are at the beginning of the posts on the message board before that actual writing takes place and generally follows the formula establishing the name of the place and the position it is within the world.
Example:
Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters
Salem Center, New York
or
Example:
Central City
Megapolis, Planet Thelon 7
8. Structure of posting can be formulated in many ways, but, it is best to post in the third person prespective, using of he/she or his/her to descripe the actions of your character rather than the first person prespective using I or Me. Spelling and grammer is not crucial but it is a point to keep in mind that what you write is not what others will read. Make sure your post makes sense and strive not to confuse others in writing your characters actions.
9. Closing Tags are the signature of your character and ends the post. Its a must when considering that a single player has the ability to post for five characters he/she created. As such, its important to establish a closing signature for each of your characters and, traditionally, its formulated by the identification of their name.
Example:
Conrad Heart, The Nightshade
or
Example:
Conrad "The Nightshade" Heart
It is best suited for this game that message board signatures be turned off when posting to this forum. Its not nessessary, but a good practice to elimnate confusion that may afflict other players in-game when posting or reading posts.
10: Player made plots are encouraged in this simulation subplots (envolving up to two characters) are perfectly fine to do but major storyline plots such as ones that effect three or more characters needs to be discussed with the simulation's Moderator. Evolution of your character through the storyline is always a good practice, but if you believe this change is going to effect three or more players, its best to check through the Moderator.
