At the age of 13 Thomas first transformed into the Jackal man, he believed it to be a very real dream at fist and the only proof he had was his torn night clothes which he believed was due to his moving in his sleep. It happened again a year later, This time he knew it was real, waking up in a small cave at the edge of his town. After that it became a bit more frequent, he began to wake up in odd places often and could not control it, His parents believed he was staying at a friends with out telling them and for it he was punished many times.

This continued for another few months, until one night when he had fallen asleep downstairs on his couch. The full moon glowed on him and he changed tearing his living room apart, He exposed himself to his parents when they recognized the torn clothes on Thomas's body. His father pulled out the family rifle and shot at him, it was then he knew he could never return home.

As the changing became more frequent he found he could control the transformations and actually remember things from them. He took advantage of this using his abilities to live in the near by forest, he was sure to hide away well living in an old run down mill that had been abandoned 50 years before. He decided he would hide there for the rest of his life, until only a week or so later the local law enforcement had found him, knowing of his mutant powers they drove him out, aiming to shoot at him. It was then Charles Xavier saved him, he some how stopped the bullets from hitting Thomas and since he has been at the Academy, Thanks to Charles he now has near full control of his powers.
